Imperalism in IROBOT

Imperialism is a topic that is seen all over the world. It is also seen in movies all the time.  The movie that has an underlying theme of imperialism is a movie called “IROBOT.”  This movie is about how man has gotten so smart with technology that they cannot control it and it eventually takes over. This has an underlying theme of imperialism because it shows that technology is stronger than men so it takes over. A few key point are that at the begging of the movie the protagonist disliked that humanity relied all on robots. Then at the turning point of the movie there was one stray robot that killed his creator. After that we find out that, that robot was actually created to kill all the other robots that were turning evil. Finally we find out that the robots wanted to take over the world because they thought the humans made too many errors and were irresponsible.
This movie is a perfect example of imperialism because it shows that the robots thought they were superior to the humans, and that they thought if they took over the world it would make their outcome in life better. This is the exactly like imperialism, in that one nation takes over another nation to make their outcome better. America does this to Hawaii in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. They did it by having their marines come on to the coast of Hawaii and ask Queen Liliuokalani to sign over her nation to make ours better.  She signed it over peacefully but she did put up a legal battle for it.
Another part in the movie shows that the humans were doing fine on their own. This is like imperialism in that nations will take over other nations no matter if they are doing fine on their own. One nation takes over another nation so that they can become stronger and superior to every nation in the world. There is a part in the movie where it shows the hero drowning and a little girl drowning at the same time and a robot comes down to save them and it saves the hero because he just had a higher percentage of living also show a little bit of imperialism. This is showcased in this scene because how nations take control of one another is a lot of mathematics involved to see if they can take over the other country.
In conclusion, “IROBOT” shows a lot of imperialism. In the reason that its basically one type of thing taking over another. There is also so scenes where you have to look deep to realize that there is imperils there. When one thing takes control of another thing that can sustain itself is never good. It shows that they think that they are better then everyone and will eventually lead to their own downfall or demise. That is why “IROBOT” shows underlying themes of imperialism throughout the whole movie.
